My rare brain
My rare brain
The book introduces school-age children to neurospecialism and helps them understand that each person is unique and valuable.
The author has conventionally divided the book into three parts. To better understand the topic, he first explains what the human brain is and how different parts of the brain work and affect us. Also what knowledge brain research has reached today. The purpose of the most voluminous part of the book is to explain what the neural brain means and how it affects a person and his life. 16 different diagnoses are described in more detail, including, for example, autism, anxiety disorder, ATH, dyslexia, OCD, bipolar disorder, epilepsy, etc. At the same time, the author considers it very important to emphasize that neurospecificity is not a deficiency, but a uniqueness. That is why the third part of the book is focused on neuro-special people who, both in history and today, have achieved success and found a place in the world thanks to the special nature of their brain.
The author of the book, Louise Gooding, is a neuroscientist writer - she has been diagnosed with ATH. Her personal experience inspired her to advocate for neurodiversity and special needs. To accompany this book, he has said: “I have written this book for the curious and curious people with rare brains. For those who feel alone. For those who want to know more. For those who want to pay tribute to the diversity of brains. I want to show how different and similar we all are."
